Last Light at Aoraki, New Zealand

The night we camped in Hooker Valley, we went to the nearby stream to fill our water bottles for the night just as the sun dipped below the mountains. They cast this dramatic shadow that slowly fell over us and stole the warmth from the air.

I wanted to capture that harmony of warmth and chill within this one piece. It took me away from my usual bright and saturated palette with which I'm so comfortable, but I like the result, and learned a lot from the challenge!
